With the onset of the rainy season, the mosquitoes, flies and other waterborne insects are on the rise. One of the most common irritants in this season is a mosquito bite. Most mosquito bites are harmless, but what causes the injury is the constant scratching and itching that turn the bites into injuries that cause redness, soreness, itching and swelling. These simple but effective tips will help you treat mosquito bites in a natural way right at the comfort of your home.

Use sea salts 

Mix some sea salt with water and apply to the affected area. Salt tends to dissolve in water so you will not be able to make a paste of this. If you have a larger area that is affected, soak a cloth in sea salt water and apply it on the the affected area.

Use some oats

Grind a tablespoon of oats and add some water to it to make a thick paste. Apply this paste to the affected area and leave it to dry. Rinse it off with warm water.

Ice Pack

This is one of the most tried and tested ways of providing relief from a mosquito bite. When you apply an ice pack it helps to reduce the swelling on the affected area and provides relief from the itching as well. If you are using an ice pack, let it stay for 15 minutes.

Use a banana peel

The next time you have a bunch of bananas lying at home and a mosquito or an insect bite that is troubling you, you know what to do! When you rub the affected area with a banana peel it can help to reduce the itching. Rub the area for at least 3-5 minutes to get the desired results.

Baking soda 

Baking soda has alkaline properties that can help to reduce itching. All you need to do is mix baking soda with water to get a thick paste and apply to the affected area. Let the paste stay on for a few minutes and wash off with warm water.

Use Essential oils

Tea tree and lavender essential oils are known to have antiseptic properties and are commonly used to treat insect bites. Tea tree oil can be applied directly to the affected part of the skin, but you will need to mix the lavender oil with a carrier oil to apply on the affected area. You can also mix neem oil with a carrier oil to cure the insect and mosquito bites.

Apply fresh Aloe vera 

You can also apply fresh aloe gel to cure the mosquito ir insect bites. Break a portion of the aloe vera plant and use a toothpick to extract the gel. Apply the gel on the affected area and you don’t need to wash it off because aloevera is very good for your skin. donple cider vinegar (ACV)

Apply lemon juice

Lemons have acidic properties that helps to cure insect and mosquito bites quickly. Take a cotton ball and dip it in lemon juice and dab on the affected area to cure the rash. Let it stay for at least 15-20 minutes before you wash it off.

Use the right herbs

Traditional Indian medicine has long advocated the use of certain herbs that are beneficial to ones health. The leaves of mint and basil have natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that makes it an ideal choice for healing wounds and reducing any type of skin irritations. Crush these leaves in a mortar and pestle and apply the paste on the affected areas. Let it stay for at least 10 minutes before you rinse it with warm water.
