5 quick stress relief tips

At some point of time, we all succumb to stress. It can be personal, work related or just any issue that clutters our minds. One thing for sure is that stress can be overwhelming, from a moment of calm, you move to state of unrest and panic. While we know that this can be trying, there are several ways you can overcome stress. These quick tips will provide you relief from stress and help you think of solutions and work out the problem.

Call a friend over

One of the easiest ways to overcome stress is to have a friend listen to you. If you live in the same city, go and visit your friend and discuss the issues or call them. Not only will they listen to you, but in all likelihood recommend a solution that will work out for you. Talking and discussing the issue with your friend will also get your mind off the situation.

Think of alternatives

Close your eyes and deep breathe. Calm yourself and think of the situation with a calm mind. Look at it from an outsider’s approach. What would you advise someone if they were in a situation similar to yours?  Think of possible alternatives that will help you tackle the situation. Once you are done, jot down the points and start working on those that seem feasible.

Exercise or meditate

A healthy body promotes a calm mind. Exercise is known to be a great stress reliever. When you push your endurance limits, you can get the ability to be more positive and are ready to tackle situations.

When you feel overwhelmed with stress, take some time out to meditate. Meditating promotes a lot of inner calm and peace. It is also an effective way to get rid of stress because it relaxes you. It makes your mind calmer and helps you think of alternatives that can tackle issues and problems that may be causing the stress.

Do something you love

When you are stressed, you need to do one activity that you love. Sit down for a while to read a few pages from your favourite book or listen to some uplifting music or just dance the blues away. When you do something you love, you are relaxed.

Use your senses

Did you know that you can use your senses to calm you? Certain fragrances can have calming properties on the mind and the body. Light an incense stick or diffuse some calming aroma. Did you know that the essential oils of lavender are supposed to be very calming? Spritz in around you to chase the stress away.

At the end of the day, all that you need to do is let your body relax and tap into things that relax you to combat stress and ease the frayed nerves. When you manage stress, you are managing not just your thoughts and emotions, but also looking at the way you deal with your problems.
